Job Overview
We are seeking a Plant Health Care (PHC) Specialist to join our growing team. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of experience in plant health care or related work and holds (or is able to obtain) a Category 36 Pesticide Applicator License for Ornamental Trees and Shrubs. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, cares about the environment, and takes pride in maintaining healthy landscapes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform tree and shrub care treatments using spray, soil injection, and tree injection tools as prescribed by the Plant Healthcare Manager
- Mix and apply pesticides and fertilizers according to diagnosis, safety procedures, product labels, and state laws.
- Communicate professionally with clients during site visits regarding work performed and plant health recommendations.
- Maintain and operate all equipment and vehicles properly, including hand tools, spray systems, and application machinery.
- Complete accurate daily recordkeeping and reporting of materials, applications, and site visits.
- Drive company vehicles safely to multiple properties each day.
- Assist with overall plant health programs and support other divisions as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in plant health care, horticulture, or landscape maintenance.
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain a Massachusetts Pesticide Applicator License (Category 36 – Ornamental Trees & Shrubs).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Passion for nature, the environment, and working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
- Preferred but not required: Degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Turfgrass Management, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Agriculture, or a related field, or prior experience working in landscaping or horticulture.
